SUMMARY:Mattering Book Club:Continuing the Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Mattering: The Secret to a Life of Deep Connection and Purpose\n\n\n\nby Jennifer Wallace \n\n\n\nLast year\, Jennifer Wallace joined us as the keynote speaker at the Maine Youth Thriving Summit\, and everyone who attended received a copy of her book\, Mattering: The Secret to a Life of Deep Connection and Purpose. \n\n\n\nNow\, we’re inviting you to pick up that book—or pick it back up—and continue the conversation. \n\n\n\nJoin Maine Youth Thriving for a welcoming\, conversation-centered book club exploring Jennifer Wallace’s research and ideas about what it means to truly matter. Together\, we’ll connect the book to our work with young people\, schools\, families\, and communities and consider how we can intentionally create environments where people feel seen\, heard\, valued\, and able to add value. \n\n\n\nYou do NOT have to have read the book to join us! Whether you’ve read every page\, started the book\, listened to a few chapters\, or haven’t opened it yet\, you are welcome. This is not about having all the answers—or even finishing the book. It’s about coming together to learn\, reflect\, share experiences\, and explore what mattering can look like in practice. \n\n\n\nWe started the conversation at the Summit. Now\, let’s keep it going. \n\n\n\nTime: 4:00-5:00pm Via Zoom \n\n\n\nDates:September 16September 23September 30 \n\n\n\nOctober 6

SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn with Denise Pope\, Ph.D.: Learn from One of the Nation's Leading Voices on Student Well-Being
DESCRIPTION:Virtual Lunch & Learn with Denise Pope\, Ph.D.Tuesday\, September 23rd \n\n\n\nA Rare Opportunity to Learn from One of the Nation’s Leading Voices on Student Well-Being \n\n\n\nMaine Youth Thriving is thrilled to welcome Denise Pope\, Ph.D.\, Senior Lecturer at the Stanford University Graduate School of Education and co-founder of Challenge Success\, for a special Lunch & Learn experience. Dr. Pope has spent over two decades researching what actually helps kids thrive in school — and what gets in the way. Her work has shaped how schools across the country think about homework\, stress\, engagement\, and belonging. \n\n\n\nThis is a rare chance for Maine educators\, school leaders\, and parents to learn directly from one of the most respected researchers in the field — someone whose ideas have influenced school reform nationwide\, right here in our own community. \n\n\n\nWhat to Expect: \n\n\n\nJoin us for a Keynote where Dr. Pope will share research-backed insights on student stress\, well-being\, engagement\, and belonging — the same strategies she’s brought to schools across the country through Challenge Success. \n\n\n\nThen\, roll up your sleeves for an interactive workshop\, where we’ll dig into practical\, doable strategies you can bring back to your classroom\, school\, or home right away. This isn’t a sit-and-listen keynote — it’s a working session designed to leave you with real tools and fresh perspective. \n\n\n\nWhy This Matters: \n\n\n\nAt MyT\, we believe every young person deserves to feel like they matter — in their homes\, schools\, and communities. Dr. Pope’s work is grounded in the same science of the positive that drives everything we do: helping kids not just survive school\, but truly thrive in it. Whether you’re an educator\, youth-serving leader\, or parent\, you’ll leave with a deeper understanding of what healthy\, engaged learning can look like and concrete ways to help make it happen. \n\n\n\nSave your seat — space is limited for this one-of-a-kind opportunity to learn from a national leader in education\, right here in Maine. \n\n\n\nZOOM INVITE WILL BE SENT THE WEEK OF THE EVENT
