On a sunny day in Alna, Maine, MyT engaged an intergenerational audience in faciltated conversations on mattering as part of the Puddle Dock Village Festival. The mission of this monthlong festival is to use the arts and humanities in support of community justice and well-being, a goal we were excited to advance by centering youth voice.

To open our event, Thrive Together: How Creativity and Connection Build Youth Resilience, MyT’s Director of Education and Engagement, Meg LeMay, presented MyT’s four Mattering PSAs featuring Maine youth. These youth-led creative media projects exemplified the use of arts and humanities to foster community well-being for Maine’s young people.
After the PSA screening, Meg facilitated a guided conversation with youth and caring adults. The culminating presentation featured youth panelists, who engaged in vibrant and powerful conversation about what mattering means to them and how caring adults can support their sense of mattering.
